Bah Humbug - Nasty Little Grinch

A real quickie for this months posting! I decided to include a little nursery rhyme I made up too :)

'This little Grinch isn't nice or cute.
He carries a big knife in his boot.

So little kiddies hand over the
pressies that Santa brought ya.
Cause this little Grinch ain't foolin'...
He really will cut ya!

Pimp my ride

It took a while to figure out what to do with this month's theme. After going through a few different ideas, I finally settled on this one. I tried out a rough, flat style this time.

December's Theme - Bah Humbug!

Yes, I'm being lazy and going for the obvious Christmas theme, but in fairness my earlier idea was just 'Festive' haha. This is my absolute favourite time of year but even I have at least one thing that turns me into a total Grinch. What does it for you?

Pimp My Toy Ride

Here is my drawing for pimp my ride. I could'nt think of anything to begin with then in popped Noddy so I pimped out his ride. It has all state of the art luxurys that any toy could wish for. Noddy especially loves his new sound system as his old car didnt even have a radio! Now he can listen to classic Toy Town hits.

November's Theme

Righto Collective Chums, the theme for November is Pimp my Ride.
Pick a mode of transport and pimp it to suit yourself,  from a shopping trolley to a spaceship or anything in between... as long as locomotion is possible. The nuttier the better :)

Zombie Boy

Was going to stick to black & white to accommodate time constraints.... but you just can't draw a zombie without splashing some reds around, gore and gruesomeness a-go-go!
Now pick your favourite relative and/or friend, Zombie Boy has just eaten them : )

Sweeney Todd

I had some trouble getting this right.  I don't think I quite got it though. Ah sure I like the colors at least.

Just so ya know. I painted  this in watercolour on A1 Fabriano paper.  I created the blotted effect on the walls and ground with salt. It was taking too long to build up the darkness in watercolour, so when I was happy enough with it I photographed it in 4 sections, photo stitched and applied some filters. :)

It's All Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus

Watched my fav' Hallowe'en movie tonight and decided to base this month's post on it. Couldn't choose which version I prefer so I'm putting them both up.

Here is my piece of tasteful horror. Had trouble with my comp colouring this so it's not done to a finish I would prefer but its better than nothing. Went for sort of the same theme as my previous post with the devil girls, wanted a 50's horror style poster. I think it came out well except the colouring......

Ben's birds

Here's my collective post for the theme "Birds Birds Birds".  It features Black and White from Tekkonkinkreet, a favorite film of mine. I've wanted to draw these guys for a while now and I haven't drawn a city-scape in ages so I thought I'd try do the both here.

And as always I tried something new here too. I reversed my halftone dots, so instead of using the actual dots themselves I used the area around them. Just thought it would give me a more 'square-er' feel when sorting out the building silhouette.

I had a lot of fun with this one. I kept it B&W for obvious reasons. Since the theme was about birds I tried my best to keep them as much a character as Black and White are in this piece.  I like the idea of the crow resting on blacks club and White playing with the only dove in the whole city.

White's imagination is a great element to play with. In the film about half the things he's interacting with aren't really there and some times he just floats in mid air. I thought I'd have him play with a dove that may or may not actually be there, that's up to you.

I'll blog again soon, laters!

Aarggh!!

I set out to do an abstract image of a birds eye, but when I did a google search for reference a picture of Captain Birdseye showed up and I had to draw him (plus the parrot, to keep the theme). I should have know that would happen!

totem bird bird bird

i like totem poles!this one's a bit weird,
i actually hate that bird in the middle but anyway. :(

Birds, birds, big feckin' bird!

I think this has inspired a possible series of big bird paintings for me.:)  Got a little bit better this time, I think.  I have my friend Photoshop back now to make it all better.

Octobers theme

As October is the month for horror......lets have a REAL HORROR SHOW! I want to see this blog filled with unadulterated gore, filthy dark thoughts, and stuff you wouldn't want to upset your granny with!

All tasteful, I hope, but will leave that up to the individual artist!

Just some old photos of mine that relate to the theme, I have always liked these picts I took them in the Botanic gardens one day. I used these as reference for my new doodles in flash and on Post-its.

Birds, Birds, Birds...sorta

The theme’s ‘Birds, Birds, Birds’ but I ran with the human (or rather celestial) variety… angels. It’s mainly inspired by how the homeless are invisible to a lot of us and I thought I’d make them the angels. So while those of us who (want to) believe look to the skies maybe we should be looking closer to home.

Cockatielsssssss

Not Birds.

Some Batmans I drewed.

Since my last Batman posted looks like it was drawn by an actual bat, I thought I'd better try and make it up to the caped crusader.

Birds animation

So I see some old stuff has gone up I could do that too...Here are two flash animations I did of birds a while back. I plan on doing another piece so I will have an update near the end of the month.

Birds, birds, birds in flight!

Hey guys, thanks for having me on the blog! Thought I'd jump straight in and add a short piece of animation I recently completed for a short film...it was ready to go and had birds in flight so I thought it was a sign :) This is an earlier version we later decided to do the birds in silhouette, but I like the lines so I wanted to post this one. Looking forward to next month's theme already!

Phoenix Energy

This is my mythological renewable energy solution. Painted in watercolour. Not quite back up to scratch with my painting, but these projects are helping. :D  Slightly improved image added.

birds! birds!! birds!!!

So Elaine says it's my turn to pick a subject. I thought long and hard and asked lots of advice from others. I really wanted to pick something as amazing as last months and as inspirational as the month before.

Hold on to your hats!

This months theme is: 'Birds, birds, birds!'

August Collective thinking bg

Im just posting up the bg that I did for my August post at the request of others. As I said this is the part I enjoyed most. I rarely do bg designs I did one recently and I liked it so I did another. I would like to add bottles and stuff in but it would take a long time to do..If I was to do it again I would probably play around with some textures.
